FAQ's

How do I check which firmware version my light is already using?

  • To see which firmware version your light is using, power the unit on while pressing and holding the "TEST" button. A version number (2.5, 2.6...) will appear on the LCD screen that corresponds to the firmware version.

I downloaded the firmware file but I can’t open it on my computer.

  • Your computer may consider the software to be a threat, as it is coming from an “unknown developer”. You may have to manually override the security settings on your computer. Please see the Download Instructions above for more details.

When I plug my device to the computer, I get an error message saying “the update software is not fit for this device”.

  • Each firmware file is specific to the device. This is a failsafe to ensure users do not inadvertently corrupt their device. If you see this message, double-check to make sure you downloaded the correct file. If you still get the error message, contact Interfit support.

I'm doing everything correctly, but my light is not recognized by the computer!

  • If you are properly pushing down the power dial while plugging in the Micro USB cable and the computer is not showing "connected" in the firmware updater window when you attempt to connect, the cable might be broken/defective. If you have another Micro USB, try that to see if the problem is related to the included USB. If so, please contact us for a replacement.

My light is running the latest firmware, but now my Manual Remote doesn't work - What now?

This was a hardware incompatibility we discovered after patching our TTL/HSS firmware for the TTL remotes and lights to support newer mirrorless cameras. Since the Interfit Manual Remote is not user-upgradeable, they were recalled to be replaced with a new internal chip that works with other products running the latest TTL/HSS firmware.

There are two options to resolve the issue:

  1. If you are just planning to shoot in manual mode or you have a TTL remote that doesn't need to be used with a new camera, you can roll back the firmware to the previous version that is still compatible with the Manual Remote and immediately start shooting.
  2. If you intend to use the TTL/HSS functions with one of our TTL remotes in addition to the Manual Remote, or need the latest TTL/HSS firmware for a new camera, contact us and we will replace the manual remote free of charge under warranty.
